Quarter 7 - Lesson 12: Concordant Causes, the
methodology for reliable forecasting
Applying our delineation and forecasting techniques to the natal chart of Benazir
Bhutto, the Pakistani opposition leader and two-time prime minister assassinated
in 2007, this and the next lesson begins the study of what Morin calls
"concordance" the methodology that is the practical basis for reliable forecasting.
All prediction is based on a firm understanding of the natal chart, the natal
chart itself being the basis for all of life's events. But forecasting, that
is the timing of life's events - based on the potential as seen in the birth
chart - is a deductive process that begins with the agreement or its lack
existing between different causes when applying the different timing techniques.
For example, what a primary direction may promise may be confirmed by the presence
or negated by the lack of a corroborating solar return. It is for this reason
that Morin states that the vast majority of primary directions do not produce
significant events.
This cooperation or agreement between causes as seen in the different timing
techniques to provoke or manifest an event as seen in potential natally is what
Morin calls "concordance" or "concordant causes."
"An astrologer skilled in the concordance of causes and effects, will only
need a few directions to [know] the state of the whole year, that is to recognize
the Native's principal changes emanating from the stars in that year." J.B.

Our lesson starts with an analysis of Benazir Bhutto's chart followed by a brief
analysis of her solar return for 2007 and the lunar return prior to her assassination
to highlight the importance of Mars and Mercury in those returns. The intent of the
quick examination is to demonstrate how the corroborating primary directions of
these two planets occurring during her solar return for 2007 cooperate to bring
about her death.
Our lesson covers the primary directions that brought about key events in her
life. We review the basic considerations that determine whether a given primary
direction will produce an effect and what kind will it be. Morin says this
depends "principally on grasping a clear insight into signification of
subject [the Significator] and [the] Promittor's role as efficient cause that
acts according to the subject's nature and disposition."
We examine those directions that cover the execution of her father for the murder
of a political rival, her arranged marriage, and her rise twice to the Prime
Ministership and the subsequent dismissal and then dissolution of her government
by the President of Pakistan amid corruption charges.
