Quarter 5 - Lesson 4:
On The Mutual Determination created by a Transiting Planet through a Transited Place

What is the nature of the influence anticipated from a transiting planet and how much of that influence may we expect from its transit? The answer to this question is two-fold: First, we must put the transiting planet in context, that is, what is its value in the natal, and second, what is the nature and state of the place or the planet transited? Therefore, how much of an influence depends on both transiting planet and transited place or planet.

Using the charts of the American actor Ben Affleck, and the Italian freelance journalist, Enzo Baldoni who was kidnapped and killed while on assignment in Iraq, we demonstrate the various ways that the above can be determined

We discuss the difference between a simple versus a complex transit. The former considers effects based only on it basic nature versus the latter where the planet's transit is considered both in terms of its essential nature and also as a representative of the houses that have determined it by position and rulership.

We also consider the issue of "concordant causes", that is the need for the presence of cooperating causes for important events to occur as well as judging how strongly a transit is felt, what exactly is measured through transits, and what is affected by transits.

Content for this Quarter as well as the following quarter, Quarter 6 is based on Books 23 and 24 of Morin's Astrologia Gallica.

Both of these volumes have been translated from the Latin by James Holden and are available now from the AFA bookstore (www.astrologers.com) and www.Astroamerica.com. Also available from these sites are Books 16 and 17 from Astrologia Gallica that have been newly translated by James Holden. The former is on the topic of aspects and the latter is Morin's extensive discussion on the topic of astrological houses.
