A planet may act as either an internal or an external cause for the affairs of a house in several ways. Morin calls all the ways a planet can act as a cause for the realization of the affairs that are from within as house as intrinsic or an intrinsic determination. Making use of the same four examples from last week's lesson, Morin enumerates - in priority order - the various ways a planet can impact a house. As he says, "never make a judgment on marriage before considering the planets in the 7th house, the ruler of the 7th, its dispositor, the planets aspecting the 7th house cusp or its ruler, and the way these planets are related to each other by rulership over, or aspect to, planets analogous to a male or female spouse."

In this way we are able to make a rational statement about the state of the affairs inquired about by a client
