Quarter 3 - Lesson 7: On the Sun and the Moon - Intermediate Level Studies - Part 2
This second in a series of intermediate level lectures on the Sun and Moon is founded on the principles of Morin but comes from lessons taught by the late Zoltan Mason of New York.
It focuses on an appreciation that everything in nature, including the zodiacal signs, is build up elementally from energy and matter, symbolized respectively as "+" or "- ". Thus we can go from one extreme of pure energy, e.g. a fire sign that we can depict as three pluses , "+++ " to the other extreme, an earth sign that we can
depict as three minuses, "--- ". Further, we will learn the significance of adding a forth plus or minus to each sign and what this means for our view of astrology that we define as the study of motivation and drive.
We discuss energy and matter in relation to motivation and drive. We reduce everything down to our lowest common dominators, energy and matter. This will lead us into a discussion of the Sun and Moon in relation to the signs as expressed in terms of energy and matter.
It may be asked, what are the differences between the Cardinal and Fixed Signs versus the Mutables and the consequences of the Lights in the former versus the latter? The Lights play a very significant part in the topic of motivation and drive and their placement in a Cardinal or Fixed Sign versus a Mutable is a very significant if we consider the Signs in terms of energy and matter. Gleaning what prompts a person to act, what is it that attracts them or pushes them, is greatly enhanced by grasping an feeling for each Sign's unique blend of energy and matter. This in turn will help us get a better understanding for the horoscope as a whole.
Finally, we illustrate our points with some example charts.
