Quarter 3 - Lesson 6:
On the Sun and the Moon - Intermediate Level Studies - Part 1

This first in a series of intermediate level lectures on the Sun and Moon is founded on the principles of Morin but comes from lessons taught by the late Zoltan Mason of New York.

While Morin and his contemporaries acknowledged the importance of the Sun and the Moon, they did not say much with regard to their influence on the character of the individual and the person's development into a spiritually and emotionally mature adult. It is not that they did not know about such matters but rather the issue centered around the danger of what to say publicly and one's own safety given the Church's power over the community.

Zoltan Mason pointed out that it was the Alchemists that held the deep secrets to Astrology. Mason was oft to say that the Sun and Moon are one unit expressed in two bodies much in the way we think of our two parents as one unit when we speak of them together.

This series of lessons starts with a consideration - in very broad stokes - of the issue of human evolution from a Western and an Eastern viewpoint. This important age old philosophical or if you want, contemporary issue is framed around the question, "What does it mean to realize oneself?" We want to know the role played by the Sun and the Moon in this issue. This issue is addressed astrologically by the topic known as the "144 Polarization of the Lights".

We want to known whether it is important to have an aspect between the Sun and the Moon. And if so, what about the different combinations of the Lights above or below the horizon or East or West of the vertical? What impact do these various combinations have on the topic of realization?
