Quarter 3 - Lesson 4: Intermediate Level - Zodiacal State - Part 4
We now consider the influence of a benefic planet on the affairs of a fortunate
house, first in a good zodiacal state, then its impact on those affairs as the
planet's state changes (through sign position and additional factors) from being
favorably disposed to a mediocre state and eventually its impact on the house
when unfortunately disposed.
A house is termed fortunate because the affairs of the house are
considered desirable and if a benefic in a good state is posited or rules therein,
it realizes the advantages signified by the house. And again, we must always be
sensitive to whether the planet's nature and state agree by analogy with the
signification of the house in question.
We then consider the factors that contribute to a benefic by nature to be judged
as in a mediocre state. "Such a benefic gives with more certainty than one which
is badly disposed, but what it gives is equally mediocre from the point of view
of quality, quantity, and duration". As Morin states, it neither causes evil or
prevents but only mitigates it.
Finally, we consider factors as sign position, bad aspects, and other factors
that allow us to judge a benefic to be in a bad zodiacal state. Even when placed
in or ruling over a fortunate house Morin says it will, "either gives nothing or
gives it with difficulty or by evil means, and thus gives things of bad quality,
small quantity, limited durability, and for the most part useless".
Malefics by nature and in an excellent state in a fortunate house will realize
the affairs of the house though analogy by honor. Yet the honors or fortune
realized will be accompanied by some manner of trouble or disagreeable or dubious
methods. These honors, dignity, and abundance however will be contingent on that
malefic receiving neither a square or opposition from the Sun or the Moon which
by analogy signify honors.
We then discuss the factors that allow us to judge a malefic to be of a mediocre
quality and when this planet is posited in or rules over a fortunate house, it
neither gives nor takes, but only prevents favorable things from happening and
above all if the affairs are contrary to the malefics nature.
Lastly, a planet which is malefic by nature, badly disposed and in a good House,
will not realize the advantages signified in the House, (but rather will suppress
them, or, if they happen anyway, the Planet will bring misfortune in their wake.
Using the charts Bobby Brown, Jerry Garcia, John Kerry, Jim Bakker, and others
drawn currently from the news as well as from our practice, we illustrate this
range of fortune or misfortune caused by a planet's nature and state in a fortunate house.
