The Sun is the third subunit in the triad of considerations that constitute the basic framework of a horoscope.

While the Sun is important, we have to appreciate its significance in relation to the first two considerations, The Ascendant and the Moon.

As we have stressed on a number of occasions, we always prioritize our considerations, and what is mentioned first is taken to be more important than what is mentioned second. First comes the Ascendant and then the Moon. These two taken together as a unit constitute life. Life is a combination of the Ascendant plus the Moon. So it may be asked, what then is the Sun and what is its purpose?

We say that the Sun is consciousness and its highest expression is the human WILL expressed as volition. It is the power to organize for the purpose of achieving some set goal. This lesson concentrates on this point which is the 4th Part in a 5-part analysis of a chart.
