Quarter 3 - Lesson 2

On The Exaggeration of a  Planetary Quality

Quarter 3 dwells on developing the habit to measure always the influence of the planets to insure emphasizing the appropriate and relevant considerations to be synthesized. This lesson focuses on the mistakes in judgment that can occur when a planetary influence is analyzed incorrectly.

In previous Quarters, we mentioned that among the more difficult skills for a student to acquire is the ability to judge the quality of a planet. Upon initial study of a chart, we may be led to think that a particular planet's zodiacal state is good, but circumstantial factors can dramatically alter this initial and apparently favorable observation. For example, exaggeration of a planet's strength through house position without the presence of compensating or counter-balancing factors, or the planet's repetitive connections to malefic planets, either by aspect or dispositorship can negate the constructive quality of the planet.

Our example horoscope is that of the recently disgraced psychic, Miss Cleo, who was the "pitchwoman" for television infomercials that were watched by millions of viewers. She has been exposed as a fraud and as a figurehead for two South Florida businessmen who through their network of affiliates cheated the public out of $20 million a month!

The lesson is prefaced with a discussion on another way to gain a feeling for the zodiacal signs. We can use the six planetary dignities (Domicile, Detriment, Exaltation, ...) in a novel way to understand the behavior pattern of the twelve zodiacal signs.
