Quarter 2 - Lesson 8

Topic: An Extensive Analysis of Vice President Dick Cheney's Ascendant
The purpose of Lesson 8 like that of Lesson 7 is to integrate the material from our earlier lessons by freely applying their content to an example horoscope. The previous six lessons served to broaden our astrological knowledge; the purpose of this lesson like the previous one is to deepen our understanding of a chart through application of this material.

Our comments focus exclusively on the Ascendant in the chart of Vice President Dick Cheney. There is an extensive analysis of the critical role that Saturn has played and continues to play in his life in terms of his career and on his health. (We note in passing the great similarity between Dick Cheney's chart and that of one of our greatest American leaders, Franklin D. Roosevelt, the 32nd President of the United States. Both have Virgo rising, Sun and Mercury in Aquarius, and Jupiter and Saturn in Taurus working for the 9th house.)

This lesson pays particular attention to the role of:

  1. An aspect's ability to mutually determine house affairs in which the aspect falls,
  2. The Value of Planets in Triplicity,
  3. House combinations,
  4. Saturn and its analogy to the Earth Triplicity,
  5. A single planet's ability to act as a focal point for the entire chart, and
  6. The Archetype as a tool of measure.

We give a detailed explanation of the critical square between the Sun and Saturn that falls respectively in the sixth and ninth houses of Vice President Dick Cheney's chart. In addition, we demonstrate how to use the Archetype as a measure of behavior when studying a chart.

Sincerely,
