Quarter 1 - Lesson 2
Topics: The Basics - Signs, Planets, and Houses and On Sensitivity Exercises The goal of this lesson is to orient you and to cover a lot of material in broad strokes. The word "orient" is a very interesting word and as we will see, it is a very evocative word and most applicable to our discussion. The first part of the lesson presents an overview of the three component parts found in every chart. In astrology, we say that the sky, meaning the twelve signs of the zodiac, is the sender of influences and that the earth, meaning the twelve houses, is the receiver of those influences. The planets are situated in between the signs and the houses and are both senders and receivers of influences. The role of the planets is complex: they both bring down as well as modify the influences of the signs. Over the next ten lessons, we will expand upon this theme in much greater detail. Beyond the lesson's focus on the signs, planets, and houses, we also introduce a method used to create a feeling for each of the zodiacal signs. The ability to take astrology beyond an intellectual exercise and make it an instinctual activity or an activity based on feeling cannot be overstated. We must be able to react to a sign just as we react when we meet someone for the first time. There is always a chemistry, a reaction, be it fortunate or to the contrary. We have to teach ourselves to respond to a sign in this fashion. The practice of the method detailed herein facilitates the gaining of this feeling. The lesson ends with a brief overview of what a complete chart analysis entails. Good Reading,
