Quarter 1 - Lesson 1

Introduction and Acknowledgment

Welcome to the Forum On Astrology. I hope this course of study will be an enjoyable experience that furthers your growth in this fascinating and remarkable subject.

I would like to introduce myself and acknowledge those who have influenced my studies. My name is Robert Corre and I will be your instructor for this course. After a productive twenty-five year career at New York University's Stern School of Business, I retired in 1995 and started to practice and teach Astrology (my interest of more than thirty years) in New York City's SOHO district.

Zoltan S. Mason

I studied Astrology for many years under a very talented Hungarian man named Zoltan Mason of New York City as did many other people, some of whom are well known luminaries in the astrological field today. Many of us attended his weekly classes two and sometimes three times a week which he held over a period of almost four decades at his Lexington Avenue office.

Mason himself was self-taught in Astrology and until his retirement in 1994, practiced and taught for almost seventy (70) years. He acknowledged many geniuses in the field, but credits Ptolemy as the foundation stone upon which the seventeenth century Astrologer and Physician Morin de Villefranche built his system of interpretation. It is the system of Morin as taught by Mason that we unfold in this program.

Topic: Introduction to Astrology

The first lesson starts out slowly. Its purpose is to place Astrology in context with your daily experience and point out its relationship to both secular studies and metaphysics. This is followed by some comments on human nature and human pursuits. Finally, we give a brief overview of our teaching methodology and end the lesson by naming the signs, planets, and houses.

In time you will reach the goal we have set for people who take this program: you will be able to interpret a horoscope and more importantly, you will have gained a deep insight into your own nature and motivations. You will be an astrologer. It is my hope that your study proves to be as fruitful and fulfilling as it has been for me.

Sincerely,

Robert M. Corre
